Supporters’ Trust Crowdfund Sponsors Josh Wood and Daniel Murray for 2018 Season

Salford RLFC Supporters’ Trust are excited to announce that after the success of the “Supporters’ Trust Crowdfund” over 60 supporters have joined forces and for the 2018 season they will be the player sponsors of Josh Wood and Daniel Murray.

In addition to this, the popular independent fans forum Devil Talk who directed their forum members to our crowdfund will be the sponsors of the substitution boards for the coming season!

This is a great example of Salford supporters coming together – throughout the season contributors to the crowdfund will be entered in to a draw for a variety of prizes including the playing shirts of Josh and Daniel. The crowdfund will remain open for a number of weeks allowing more supporters to get involved – all the details are here and at the bottom of this article.

Thank you to all supporters who have contributed and we wish Josh and Daniel every success for the coming season!!

Daniel came to Salford prior to the 2017 season signing from Warrington where he had been the under 19s player of the year for the 2015 season. At 21 years old, he’s a natural prop forward with real strength as a metre maker; good neat foot work and the ability to spot a passing opportunity – all making Murray a clever player. The youngsters defence is also excellent and for a big lad his fitness is second to none.

Last season Daniel got plenty of game time on loan at Bradford as well as appearances on duel registration at Halifax. Speaking to him at the start of last season in an interview for Devil In The Detail one thing that struck me was his remarkable knowledge of the game and how he wants his game to develop. He has a great sense of humour and watching him progress over the course of last season was really pleasing. He has the ability to land on his front and get a quick play the ball due to his agility. I have no doubt we will see him blossom yet again in 2018.

Josh Wood came through the academy ranks at Salford making his debut against Warrington in May 2015. Playing at either half back or hooker Josh’s versatility is a real asset to coach Ian Watson. Wood has plenty of pace and a really good pair of hands making his ball distribution very good. Speaking to Josh after the Pre Season friendly at Warrington he was given a weight target in the close season which he has hit. He looks sharper, bigger and stronger, his tackling in both Pre Season games was really strong. Hooker looks like the position he will be heading for in 2018 as he challenges Kris Brining and Logan Tomkins. Signing a new two year deal in April 2017, this could be a pivotal year for a young player with so much promise.

Ian Watson certainly isn’t afraid to showcase young talent and both these players are likely to feature quite a lot in what promises to be a very exciting season ahead.

Ever wanted to be a player sponsor but never had the funds to do that alone? Now is your chance. We’re asking ALL SUPPORTERS to join us in our “Supporters’ Trust Crowdfund”.

All we ask is that you make a minimum one off contribution of at least £10. Obviously the more we raise – the more we can do for the team. Throughout the 2018 Season we will run a draw for each of the “Sponsor Benefits” open to members of our crowdfund (you will get 1 ticket in to the draw per £10 contribution you have made).

These include:

  • Player appearance at your event organised around team commitments
  • Players actual playing shirt at the end of the season
  • Pair of BetFred Super League Grand Final Tickets
  • A number of Salford Red Devils Home fixture upgrades

We are now the Official Player Sponsors of Josh Wood and Daniel Murray – all additional donations will allow us to purchase further benefits from the Club which we will enter in to the draw throughout the season. The Club and yourselves will continue to benefit!
