In memory of John Hoskison – (UPDATED with funeral arrangements)

John’s funeral will take place at Stockport Crematorium Rowan Chapel Crematorium at 1.45 pm on Thursday 1st March 2018.

James Hoskison – “Our family welcomes all to attend to give my Dad the send off he planned. Club colours, scarves, shirts to be worn any enquiries just let me know, much love folks xx”

Salford supporter and stalwart of the club John Hoskison passed away on Saturday 17th of February after a brave three year battle with cancer.

Loyal to the Salford RLFC cause for well over 50 years John first attended a game in Blackpool in the 1960s whilst he was playing colts rugby union. Some lads went to the pub but John went to watch the Red Devils.

After his retirement from amateur Rugby Union John started watching Salford home and away. A season ticket holder for many years, holding the position of secretary of the Supporters Association in the 1980s. It was around this time his son James started his Salford supporting journey, catching the bug just like his dad.

A man with a tremendous knowledge of the game, who was always a pleasure to chat too. Like many Salford supporters Johns faith was tested at times with relegations and poor seasons but he would savour the good times and remained loyal to the club. His final game was the home fixture to Swinton Lions in January 2018.

The bond that John and James shared with our great club makes you feel proud to be part of the Salford RLFC family. James will now carry the red flag for his dad who will always be remembered. Like his dad James Hoskison is a lovely man and one of the nicest you could wish to meet.

John is a true inspiration, who fought so bravely against a terrible illness. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. God bless and stay strong.
